With nothing in production and resistance to online releases, Netflix is about to strike a major blow to movie studios and streamers.
When we look back on 2020, we’re going to call it a lost year for many of us. Work stopped, times were very hard, and we lost people we knew and loved. In Hollywood, it truly became the year without movies.
At this point, you have to assume that the rest of 2020 will play out without major films hitting theaters… unless there’s a miracle vaccine that can be mass-produced and distributed by November.
Even in best-case scenarios that seems like more of a January 2021 possibility.
So is anyone benefitting from the scenario?
Sure, on the surface Netflix is winning simply because we are all at home streaming things. That’s a given. But when it comes to the streaming wars, it’s about to jump to the head of the class thanks to foresight that no other company had.
